BROOKLAND, Ark. — A large law enforcement presence was reported this morning in Brookland as officers attempt to locate and arrest a suspect with a warrant.
According to Chief Deputy Justin Rolland with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, Brookland officers had taken a suspect into custody on a warrant. Apparently, the suspect escaped and ran into a house near the corner of Holman and School Street in Brookland.
The SWAT team for the sheriff’s office made entry around 11 AM, Rolland updated. They found the suspect hiding in a back room and took him into custody without further incident.
NEA Report was notified by an anonymous tip that a large police presence was at a home in Brookland. Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, Brookland Police Department, and other unmarked cars were reported at the scene.
Brookland Police Chief Jon Moore told K8 News everyone inside the home, except for the suspect, had gotten out safely. He said no one living nearby was in danger but as a precaution, they blocked off Highway 49 B.
Kendrick Anderson was identified as the suspect, wanted for misdemeanor fleeing.
Brookland Public Schools were on lockdown as a result of the situation, which is nearby the school. All employees, students, and coaches were notified and the building “has been securely locked,” a statement said.
