PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man faces nine charges after police linked him to multiple vehicle break-ins and the break-ins of two storage buildings, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene County District Court.
Zackary Coffel faces six counts of breaking or entering, all Class D felonies, and three counts of theft of property, all Class A misdemeanors.
Police responded around 12:17 a.m. July 25 to the area of Case and Cliff streets after receiving multiple reports of vehicle break-ins.
One victim provided officers with a detailed description after allegedly catching Coffel inside their vehicle and watching him flee, the affidavit states.
Police searched the area and soon located Coffel. He admitted possessing a marijuana vape, according to the affidavit. During a search, officers allegedly found property that had been stolen from the victims.
Investigators identified five victims and determined that multiple vehicles and two storage buildings had been broken into. Three victims reported missing property, while the other two were uncertain at the time whether anything had been taken.
Coffel was taken to the police station and interviewed after being advised of his Miranda rights. He allegedly admitted breaking into multiple vehicles and stealing property.
District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause and issued an arrest warrant July 25. Coffel’s bond was set at $30,000 surety.
If released, Coffel must wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victims or witnesses.
Coffel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
