Conway County Woman Wins $50,000 Playing Instant Game

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The $50,000 Stacked instant game continues to bring big wins for Arkansas lottery players.

Batesville resident Jerry Rex Brightwell won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked, a $20 instant game. He purchased the winning ticket at Tobacco Haven #4, 951 Batesville Blvd. in Batesville.

Brightwell plays lottery games weekly and prefers $20 tickets, believing they have better odds and higher payouts. During a regular trip to a local retailer, he took a chance on four instant games—then won on all four. He landed smaller prizes on the first three tickets, but he had a good feeling about the last.

“You’re going to think I’m crazy, but have you ever heard the bells go off on this machine?” Brightwell asked the clerk, referring to the celebratory alarm that sounds when a winning ticket is scanned in a lottery terminal.

Lucky for Brightwell, his intuition was correct. He scratched the ticket while inside the store, then scanned its barcode to reveal a $50,000 top prize. Although he always had high hopes for the ticket, he was still shocked by his luck.

“This can’t be real,” he thought.

Brightwell had good reason to be stunned. Although he previously won $1,000 and $10,000 playing other lottery games, this prize was by far his biggest yet. Excited, he first shared the news with his children, friends and other family members, all of whom believed him immediately.

Of course, Brightwell has big plans for his prize.

“I’ve got some grandbabies on the way, and I’m really going to spoil them!” he told lottery officials.

Another winner, Joy H. from Conway County, also won a $50,000 prize playing the same game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on July 24.

After work, Joy purchased the winning ticket at Tobacco Corner Plus Morrilton, 319 E. Broadway in Morrilton. A regular lottery player with a preference for scratch-off games, Joy was already familiar with $50,000 Stacked. However, she never anticipated winning a $50,000 top prize that evening.

“I didn’t want to get too excited at first,” Joy told lottery officials.

Her kids, however, were quick to believe the good news and offer their congratulations.

The lucky winner plans to put some of her winnings in the bank. She also intends to continue playing lottery games.

Thirty-eight $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Stacked.
