Major Retailer in Talks for Shops at Turtle Creek Redevelopment

JONESBORO, Ark. — Haag Brown Commercial is negotiating with a major retailer whose involvement could clear the way for additional retail and restaurant announcements at The Shops at Turtle Creek, the planned redevelopment of the former Mall at Turtle Creek site.

The company has not identified the retailer and said it will not announce prospective tenants until agreements are finalized. Haag Brown said the retailer has the potential to help make the development a regional shopping destination.

“I cannot over-emphasize how important this one retailer is to the project and the city of Jonesboro,” Joshua Brown, a principal at Haag Brown Commercial, said. “If or when it gets done, there will be several interesting announcements immediately afterwards.”

The project would revive the property left behind after a tornado tore through Jonesboro and struck the Mall at Turtle Creek on March 28, 2020, destroying much of the enclosed shopping center. The damaged interior portion of the mall was later demolished.

More than six years later, green Haag Brown signs along East Highland Drive are advertising opportunities at the planned Shops at Turtle Creek development.

Haag Brown said it is also in discussions with several restaurants and other retailers, though no names have been released. The company did not announce a construction timeline or projected opening date.

Nathan Eller, also an executive broker at Haag Brown Commercial, described the project as a possible catalyst for further retail growth in Jonesboro.

“We’re working diligently behind the scenes to make this project come to life,” Eller said. “If those efforts come to fruition, we believe this project will be an impactful development and the catalyst for Jonesboro’s next significant retail growth.”

Haag Brown said it will release additional details when agreements have been finalized.
