JONESBORO, Ark. – Several incidents involving guns sent authorities responding to calls over the weekend in Jonesboro.
Officers responded between 2 AM and 3:54 AM on March 16 to the 1100-block of Belt Street to an apartment where shots had been fired. The police report says that a suspect struck and choked a victim, broke windows out of two vehicles, and then left after a victim shot a firearm into the air.
Three female victims were listed in the report. One of the females, 18, had redness and swelling to the left side of her face. Also, part of her hair had been ripped out from the root, leaving a bald spot.
Two vehicles were also damaged, both having a driver’s side window broken with a rock.
Most of the report remains masked but officers did force entry into the residence.
The report lists a 35 year old male suspect, Seville Canada, with an address in Atlanta. No arrests were made.
In a separate incident report, police received a report of a suspect pulling a weapon and making a threat during a suspected drug deal. It happened around 1:10 PM on March 16 near Oakhurst Street and Gee Street. The report says a male, 45, got into an argument related to a drug deal with a male suspect, who allegedly pulled a gun on him and made threats. No arrests or injuries were noted in the report. Police had very little information about the suspect’s description.
Two suspects were arrested for discharging firearms within the city limits on Saturday. It happened between 6:09 PM and 8:09 PM at the 200-block of Purnell Lane, with a mailing address showing as Bono. Officers were dispatched to a shots fired call in the area.
Ryan K. Sheets, 44, of Bono, was arrested for possession of a firearm by certain persons, a felony. The report also mentions charges for public intoxication, aggravated assault, and discharging firearms within the city limits, although it isn’t clear if he is being charged with those, too.
