JONESBORO, Ark. – A report says that a Jonesboro man recently learned someone took out a fraudulent loan in his name of almost $5,000.
The report was filed on March 15, 2024 with the Jonesboro Police Department. The victim, a 29-year old male, recently learned that someone in Colorado had used his information to take out a student loan.
The loan showed one charge of $3,004 and another of $1,750, totaling $4,754 the Jonesboro man was left on the hook for.
The suspect was listed with a suspected address of 5901 Pierce Street, Arvada, Colorado. That address shows up as an apartment complex called The Flats at Creekside Park. A specific unit number was not listed in the police report.
If apprehended, the suspect faces charges including theft of $1,000 or more but less than $5,000, a Class D felony. They could also be charged with financial identity fraud, a Class C felony.
In Arkansas, a Class C felony conviction carries with it a minimum three year prison sentence with the potential to be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
