JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is facing charges after an incident in which police claim her four young children were left unattended while she became intoxicated, leading to a public disturbance.
The incident began when authorities received a dispatch regarding a welfare concern at around 5:32 PM on October 6. Law enforcement promptly responded to the residence (details intentionally withheld to safeguard the children’s identity), where they discovered four children, aged 2, 3, 5, and an unknown age, left home alone.
While at the residence, police received multiple reports of a disturbance. Responding to these calls, they located the mother, a 30-year-old female, in a parking lot. She was subsequently arrested around 7:57 PM.
The woman now faces several charges, including public intoxication, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree. All pending charges are misdemeanors. Her next court appearance is scheduled for 9 AM on November 15.
The initial narrative of the report mentions a second arrest in the case but no details on a second suspect are listed in the police report.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of young children, particularly in circumstances involving substance misuse and potential endangerment.
