Felony Probationer Arrested After Officer Reports Seeing Rifle Hidden In Pants

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect on active felony probation was arrested after police said he was seen trying to hide a rifle in his pants.

Jamison Lee Feltus, 22, was arrested May 1 on suspicion of possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class B felony, and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Officer Huff observed Feltus standing in the 1800 block of Cedar Heights Drive. The officer noted the area was section of property that had been abated, with signs posted prohibiting people from being on the property. The affidavit also described the area as a high-crime area known for drug dealing, fights, gang activity and prior shootings.

Huff reported seeing Feltus retrieve an AR-15 rifle from a residence and shove it down the front of his pants to conceal it. The officer then made contact with Feltus, who attempted to flee into a nearby residence but was stopped by a locked door, according to the affidavit.

After making contact, Huff asked Feltus whether he was a convicted felon. Feltus stated, “yes sir,” according to the affidavit.

Feltus was determined to be on active felony probation and had a prior felony conviction in 2023.

Bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety. His next court date is June 26.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
