PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Knobel man was arrested after police said he returned to a Paragould motel after being told to leave, stole a master key and entered a room.
Paul A. Rainwater, 35, of Knobel, was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary, a Class C felony, theft and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
The case began May 3 at Super 8 by Wyndham, 3009 Linwood Drive, where officers responded to a report of a male subject trying to fight people, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department.
Police said Rainwater was told to leave the property and not return at the manager’s request.
A short time later, officers were called back to the motel in reference to Rainwater. The manager told police Rainwater had accessed the front office, stolen a master key and entered Room 224, according to the affidavit.
Officers made contact with Rainwater in the room and placed him under arrest.
As officers escorted him down a flight of steps, police said Rainwater began to tense up and attempt to pull away. Officers told him to stop pulling away, but he continued tensing up and pulling away, according to the affidavit. Police said officers assisted him to the ground before placing him in a patrol vehicle.
Bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety, and a no-contact order was issued.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
