JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman accused of injuring a child pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree domestic battery.
Kyndra Hunter, 28, entered the guilty plea on July 13 to the Class C felony. She was sentenced to 72 months of probation.
As part of her sentence, Hunter must complete batterer’s intervention and anger management classes and undergo a mental health assessment. She must also submit to warrantless searches at the request of law enforcement throughout her probation.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gina Knight represented the state. Hunter was represented by public defender Scott Davidson.
Arrest
Hunter was arrested May 1 after Jonesboro police responded to Fox Meadow School regarding a child who arrived with injuries allegedly sustained at home.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a detective observed multiple bruises on the child, including one about the size of a baseball on a shoulder blade and another injured area on the child’s back.
The child told police the injuries occurred when he was struck on the back with a wooden brush, dragged from a bed and then hit with a hand and closed fist, according to the affidavit.
At the time of her arrest, Hunter was also facing a Class C felony failure-to-appear case connected to an original theft allegation involving property valued between $1,000 and $5,000. Judge David Boling had set her bond at $50,000 cash or surety, concurrent in both cases.
