Threat to Shoot Partner Leads to Felony Arrest in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A 30-year-old man was arrested after his partner told police he threatened to shoot the victim in the face, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Paragould police responded July 10 to the 4500 block of Glen Echo Drive after receiving a report of threats. During the 911 call, the victim said Tanner Baker, identified in the affidavit as the victim’s boyfriend, had a gun and remained at the residence.

The victim told dispatchers they had escaped and were running down the street, the affidavit states.

Officers located Baker and the victim and recovered a firearm. Baker was taken to the Paragould Police Department for questioning.

After being advised of his rights, Baker allegedly said he told the victim he would retaliate if the victim did not help him. Police said Baker acknowledged that he might have threatened to shoot the victim, but claimed he had blacked out and did not remember.

Baker was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony.

Judge Curtis Hitt set Baker’s bail at $50,000 cash or surety. Baker was ordered to have no contact with the victim and not to possess any weapons.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
