JONESBORO, Ark. — Two women were arrested after a shoplifting complaint Monday at a local business, according to probable cause affidavits.
On June 30, an officer working security was notified of two women suspected of shoplifting in the store. Employees told the officer the women selected items in the women’s apparel section, then went to the beauty department, where bags were selected to conceal the items, the affidavits state.
Both women then left through the grocery exit without paying, according to the affidavits. One of the women, identified as Brianna Carr, stopped when contacted outside the doorway.
The second woman, identified as Lashawna Henderson, refused to stop and attempted to walk to a vehicle parked in a handicapped space near the front of the business, the affidavits state. An officer blocked the driver’s door, and Henderson turned and ran around the business.
Officers later found Henderson hiding behind a metal storage structure, where she again attempted to flee on foot before being tased and placed in handcuffs, according to the affidavits.
Carr and Henderson were both arrested for theft of property, $1,000 or less, second offense, a Class D felony. Henderson was also arrested for misdemeanor fleeing.
Bond was set at $15,000 for Carr. Bond was also set at $15,000 for Henderson, with Judge Tommy Fowler noting she was on probation and had prior thefts.
Both have next court dates set for Aug. 21.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
