VIDEO: 100 MPH Stolen Vehicle Pursuit from Greene County Ends in Crash

PARAGOULD, Ark. — Prosecutors have filed a petition to revoke the probation of a Greene County suspect after authorities said he fled from police in a stolen vehicle at speeds topping 100 mph before crashing in Missouri.

Mason C. Markum, 22, was on probation at the time of the April 19 pursuit, according to a petition to revoke filed May 18 by Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood. The petition states Markum pleaded guilty June 16, 2025, to theft of property and received supervised probation.

The petition alleges Markum violated the conditions of his probation by being arrested for and committing the felony offenses of fleeing, theft of property and reckless driving. The filing also alleges he committed misdemeanor theft of property on or about April 19.

The pursuit began after the Greene County Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO for a stolen gray 2015 Chrysler 200, according to an Arkansas State Police incident report.

At about 3:34 p.m. April 19, Sgt. McLaughlin with Arkansas State Police was positioned at U.S. 412 and State Highway 135 when he saw a gray passenger vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. 412 at what he estimated to be well over 100 mph.

McLaughlin reported seeing two Paragould Police Department units actively pursuing the vehicle. He caught up to the pursuit and assumed a secondary position behind the primary unit, operated by Paragould police officer Cody Frazier.

The pursuit continued eastbound and crossed into Missouri, according to the report. Police said the driver operated the vehicle in an extremely reckless manner, maintained speeds over 100 mph and showed a clear disregard for public safety.

At about 3:36 p.m., the suspect lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a ditch embankment, the report says. Police said the suspect then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended without further incident.

Markum was transported to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould with minor injuries, according to the report. The stolen vehicle was removed from the scene by Rudy’s Wrecker Service of Paragould.

In the petition to revoke, prosecutors asked the court to issue a bench warrant, revoke Markum’s probation and order the execution of his full sentence. He is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center on a $275,000 bond.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
