Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A May 24 traffic stop in Paragould led to the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect after officers reported finding suspected methamphetamine, Valium, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle.

Zackery Jetton, 37, was arrested after Paragould police conducted a traffic stop on him for driving on a suspended license, according to a probable cause affidavit.

During the stop, officers instructed Jetton to exit the vehicle. As he did, officers reported seeing a small clear bag of a crystal-like substance in plain view in the driver’s seat. The substance was consistent with methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

Police then arrested Jetton and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

During the search, officers reported finding less than 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, five blue pills suspected to be Valium, eight pre-rolled suspected marijuana cigarillos and a glass pipe commonly used to ingest methamphetamine.

Jetton was taken to the police department for questioning. During a Mirandized interview, the affidavit states Jetton admitted the drugs and drug paraphernalia belonged to him. He also confirmed the drugs found were methamphetamine, marijuana, and Valium, according to the affidavit.

Jetton was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, heroin or cocaine with purpose to deliver, a Class C felony; possession of a Schedule IV or V controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class D felony; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia; and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license or registration.

Bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
