Jonesboro Suspect Accused of Pulling BB Gun During Attempted Break-In

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect is facing multiple felony charges after police said he tried to enter a fenced property, pulled what victims believed was a real handgun, and later attempted to hide a methamphetamine pipe.

Tanner Bobbitt, 22, of Jonesboro, was arrested after officers responded May 3 to the 200 block of East Center Street for a reported attempted break-in, according to a probable cause affidavit.

When officers arrived, a victim reported she was outside when Bobbitt allegedly attempted to enter her property by force, causing damage. The affidavit states that four victims confronted Bobbitt and ordered him to leave.

During the confrontation, Bobbitt allegedly reached into his waistband and produced a black handgun. The victims told police the weapon appeared similar to sidearms carried by law enforcement and said they believed it was real, according to the affidavit.

Police said Bobbitt began walking away from the property while holding the weapon and threatened to shoot and kill all four victims.

Officers located Bobbitt a short time later. The affidavit states he was found in possession of a BB gun and was arrested.

While Bobbitt was being transported to jail, an officer reportedly saw him manipulating a string. Investigators later determined Bobbitt was allegedly attempting to conceal a methamphetamine pipe and was actively tampering with the evidence, according to the affidavit.

Bobbitt is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, all Class D felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal mischief.

His next court date is June 26. Judge Boling set bond at $100,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
