JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect is facing a Class Y felony after police said a traffic stop led to the discovery of two guns and a pill that tested positive for ecstasy.
Quante Jerome Jeffrey, 28, of Jonesboro, was arrested after a traffic stop May 12 in the 1800 block of Cedar Heights Drive, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit states an officer stopped a Nissan Pathfinder for a broken driver’s side tail light emitting white light to the rear. The driver and owner of the vehicle was identified as Jeffrey.
During the stop, a K-9 was deployed and gave a positive alert for narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a green pill in the driver’s door pocket. The pill field-tested positive for ecstasy, according to the affidavit.
Police said Jeffrey also had a Glock handgun on his person and an AR-15 in the passenger side of the vehicle. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Jeffrey reportedly said both guns were his. He also said the pill did not belong to him but that he knew it was in the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Jeffrey is charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony, and possession of a Schedule I or II substance that was not methamphetamine or cocaine, a Class D felony.
His next court date is June 26. Judge Boling set his bond at $50,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
