Two Suspects Arrested After Domestic Disturbance in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — Two people were arrested after a domestic disturbance in Jonesboro, with probable cause affidavits accusing each person of committing crimes against the other.

Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department responded May 13 to the 1000 block of Vine Street for a domestic disturbance, according to the affidavits.

In the affidavit against Janiya Symore Anthony, 21, of Trumann, the victim reported that he and Anthony lived together and had been involved in an altercation regarding him being at another female’s residence.

The victim told police Anthony grabbed a knife, cornered him in a bedroom and attempted to stab him. The affidavit states Anthony then took his cellphone and fled the residence. When the victim followed her outside to retrieve the phone, Anthony allegedly threw an item at him, and he responded by throwing a table back at her.

Officers reported seeing damage inside the residence, including holes in the wall and sheetrock debris on the floor, which appeared consistent with a knife recently being stabbed into the wall.

In the affidavit against Omarion Victor Jones, 21, of Jonesboro, the victim reported that she and Jones lived together and had been involved in an altercation regarding each other’s phones.

The victim told police she fled the apartment and ran to another address on Walnut Street while Jones chased her. She said Jones threatened to kill her and threw a tablet at her. The tablet became lodged between a window frame and the structure of the residence, causing damage to the tablet and the home, according to the affidavit.

Anthony was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.

Jones was arrested on charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony; second-degree criminal mischief; and second-degree assault on a family or household member, misdemeanors.

Judge David Boling set bond at $25,000 for each suspect. Both are scheduled to appear in court June 26.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
