PARAGOULD, Ark. — Two suspects were arrested after a traffic stop in Paragould led officers to suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and open containers, according to probable cause affidavits.
Jeremy Wells, 43, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class D felony; possession of an open container, a misdemeanor; and no lights, a traffic offense.
Mariah J. Wiseman, 28, was also arrested in the case on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and fleeing.
According to one affidavit, officers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on East Kingshighway at 7:54 p.m. April 13, 2026, without headlights on. Police said officers got behind the vehicle, observed the taillights were not activated and initiated a traffic stop.
The affidavit said Wells was driving and Wiseman was the passenger. Officers reported Wells appeared nervous, then learned through dispatch that both suspects had search waivers on file.
Police said Wiseman exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. According to the affidavit, she was apprehended a short time later. Officers also learned she had an active felony warrant for absconding, the affidavit said.
During a search of the vehicle, officers reported finding three open containers of alcohol, a clear plastic bag containing 2.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a glass pipe with suspected residue and burn marks, a digital scale, and a Crown Royal bag with suspected residue.
A second affidavit said officers also found a backpack behind the front passenger seat containing Wiseman’s identification card. Inside the backpack, police reported finding an orange cloth bag containing a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, along with a plastic box containing a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The affidavit added that Wiseman has prior convictions for drug possession and drug paraphernalia.
Wells’ bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety by Judge Curtis Hitt. Wiseman’s bail was set at $30,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
