VIDEO: Police Respond to Report of Drug Use Near Children at Jonesboro Charging Station

JONESBORO, Ark. — A police response to a report of possible drug use near children in Jonesboro later drew attention online after details of the encounter was posted to Reddit. NEA Report was contacted to learn more. We requested records under FOIA.

The call was made at 6:34 p.m. June 19 in Jonesboro. According to dispatch information, the caller advised there were two males smoking marijuana in their vehicles and that children with them were running around the parking lot.

Jonesboro police responded and investigated the report.

In the video, officers can be heard saying they could smell marijuana outside the vehicle. An officer also appears to find a small amount of a suspected controlled substance on the ground near the car.

However, according to information provided to NEA Report, nothing was found in the vehicle or on the people involved, and the incident ended without arrests.

The incident was later posted to Reddit with the caption, “A family can’t even charge the tesla in peace cops harassed them to no end drug them from the car and searched all to come up empty handed.”
