JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is accused of aggravated residential burglary, theft, and resisting arrest after his arrest last week in Jonesboro.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 25, 2025, JPD was dispatched to an intoxicated subject call on Turtle Creek Road. Officers arrived and found a partially clothed subject, identified as Matthew Jones, who told officers that when he left the residence, he accidentally locked himself out and was waiting for his friend’s daughter to arrive. He showed officers a black wallet containing the alleged victim’s license and other cards.
Officers knocked on the door of the residence and made contact with the victim, who stated she did not know Jones and had been asleep until she heard knocking. Officers asked if she had her driver’s license, and she said yes, but could not find it. Officers showed her the wallet, which she identified as hers. It was left inside the residence after she got home from work.
Officers gave verbal commands to Jones to exit the vehicle, but the report states he did not comply. After multiple commands, officers pulled Jones out and placed him into custody. He was transported to a facility to receive medical attention and then taken to Craighead County Detention Center.
Matthew Steven Jones, 34, of Jonesboro, was arrested for aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony, along with felony and misdemeanor theft charges and a misdemeanor for resisting arrest.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash or surety on Monday, June 30, by Judge David Boling.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 31.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
