Man Faces Life Sentence, $1 Million Bond, in Fentanyl Trafficking Case

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man accused of fentanyl trafficking in Jonesboro is facing up to a life sentence in prison after his arrest on a Class Y felony.

Kenterrian Tavonte Washington, 26, of Jonesboro, was arrested on June 27 by JPD on charges of trafficking of fentanyl, possession of a schedule VI substance, and improper tint. He appeared before Judge David Boling on Monday, June 30. The judge noted that he was on federal probation and also wrote “dangerous” on the PC affidavit, as he set a $1 million cash or surety bond requirement for his release. A GPS ankle monitor requirement was also set.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 27, 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force agents were conducting surveillance at 508 Vine Street about illegal drug sales coming from an apartment. Investigators tailed Washington as he reportedly went to a residence and exited with a pink bag under his arm. Officers performed a traffic stop for illegal window tint, later confirmed by a meter to be a one-percent tint.

During the traffic stop, a K9 officer gave a positive alert for the odor of drugs. A probable cause search was conducted. Officers found a black bag containing 2.2 pounds of suspected marijuana. In the pink bag, investigators found a plastic bag containing 77 orange pills imprinted “AD/30.” The pills, which were different sizes and appeared to have been “pressed,” field-tested positive for fentanyl. Officers also found 22 red pills, 10.8 grams of red powder, as well as several clear capsules with the same red powder were located. All was suspected to be fentanyl.

Washington’s next court appearance in this case is scheduled for August 21.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
