WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Five psychology majors from Williams Baptist University attended the annual meeting of the Southwestern Psychological Association, including three students who made presentations. The SWPA meeting was held the last weekend of March in Little Rock.
Completing an original research project is a degree requirement for all WBU students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology or a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies, and three students made poster presentations of their original research projects.
Williams senior Eric Burns of White Rock, N.M., presented his research project, “Engaged and Motivated: An Investigation of the Relationship Between Student Campus Life Involvement and Motivation to Stay in School.”
Sophomore Sara Crowe of Mammoth Spring, Ark., presented her research in a poster entitled “Religiosity and Perceived Stress Levels.”
And senior Courtney Bettis of Lonoke, Ark., presented her project, “Goal Typology Relationships with Choice of College Major.”
Williams students Michael Steele of Walnut Ridge and Molly Emison of Smithville, Ark., also attended the conference.
Dr. Ruth Provost, chair of the Williams Department of Psychology, and Dr. Denny Vowell, associate professor of psychology, attended the conference, as well.
