JONESBORO, Ark. — A shoplifting complaint involving $24.42 in merchandise led to a felony theft arrest Monday in Jonesboro, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department responded June 30 to Walmart, 1815 E. Highland Drive, after loss prevention reported a woman had concealed several items in a black backpack and exited the final point of sale without paying, the affidavit states.
Police identified the suspect as Calaysia Anderson. According to the affidavit, Anderson had previously been banned from all Walmart properties due to a prior theft incident at the Parker Road Walmart location.
Anderson was arrested for theft of property, $1,000 or less, second offense, a Class D felony, and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.
Her next court date was set for Aug. 21. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety by Judge Tommy Fowler, who noted a prior theft in 2022.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
