PARAGOULD, Ark. — A 23-year-old Paragould woman has been arrested on felony sex crime allegations involving a child.
Reagan Mayes, 23, was arrested on three counts of second-degree sexual assault, Class B felonies, and one count of sexual indecency with a child, a Class D felony, according to Paragould police.
The probable cause affidavit says that the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline and Paragould Police Department received a report on May 14 involving allegations that a child under the age of 14 had been sexually abused. The report alleged Mayes had inappropriate sexual contact with the child and that the alleged conduct had occurred multiple times.
The child was interviewed on May 18 by an Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division investigator, according to the affidavit. Investigators said the child disclosed allegations that would constitute sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child under Arkansas law.
Between May 14 and June 5, investigators interviewed several other people in connection with the allegations. According to the affidavit, those interviews included claims that Mayes had admitted to the conduct to multiple people, but blamed the victim and said she was scared of the child.
No bond information was immediately available.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Details from the PC affidavit are not being published to protect the victim.
