Police Catch Car Break-in Suspect in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Authorities tracked down a vehicle break-in suspect last week in Jonesboro.

On July 10, 2024, officers from the Jonesboro Police Department were notified of multiple suspects walking through a neighborhood and attempting to open car doors, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and began searching for the suspects. Police spoke to a witness who said he had seen the suspects opening car doors. The witness gave a direction of travel.

While officers were searching, they located a vehicle that had an interior light on. The affidavit says the inside of the vehicle was in disarray, which authorities suspected to be from someone having searched through the vehicle.

A short time later, dispatch received a call that someone had ran through their back yard. Officers began tracking through the area with a police K9. As police searched, they warned the suspects of the police K9 by making announcements, giving the suspects the opportunity to surrender without being bitten.

Two suspects were located after tracking for some time. One of the suspects surrendered and was taken into police custody.

Gregory Daniel Thomas faces charges of breaking or entering from a vehicle, a Class D felony, obstructing governmental operations, a Class A misdemeanor, and fleeing, a Class C misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $5,000, cash/surety, by Judge David Boling, on Friday. The suspect’s next court date is August 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
