Dollar General Employee Accused of Stealing on the Job

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man faces a charge of felony theft after being accused of stealing from his employer while on the job.

It began on April 23, 2024, when Jonesboro officers responded to Dollar General, 3619 Stadium Boulevard. Officers made contact with management who said an employee identified as Thomas Reddick had been loading money into a card from the self-checkout without putting any funds in the register.

The total amount that was short during the shift that Reddick was working was $2,681.36. Four different transactions were recorded and DG had video of Reddick loading the cards at the self-checkout, the PC affidavit said.

Reddick stopped coming to work after June 1 and the company was unable to make contact with him.

On July 12, a detective made contact with Reddick at his home. He willingly came to the Jonesboro Police Department for a formal interview. After being advised of his Miranda rights, police reported Reddick stated he was in need of money at the time and loaded the funds onto a Cashapp card without putting money in the register, doing this “3 to 5 times.”

Thomas D. Reddick, 20, of Jonesboro, is charged with theft, greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000, a Class D felony. On Friday, Judge David Boling found probable cause for his arrest and ordered a bond set of $5,000 cash/surety for his release. Jail records show Reddick is also being held on a failure to appear warrant, with a $3,500 bond in that case.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
