Death in Hoxie Under Investigation, Police Report

HOXIE, Ark. – Authorities are investigating a case where a man died early this morning in Hoxie.

A release from the department says that at 1:59 AM on May 9, Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call from an address off Edgar St. in regards to a male subject that had collapsed, began foaming out of the mouth and was unresponsive.

Dispatch then notified police and EMS of the situation who arrived on scene shortly after to find the male subject lying in the living room floor unresponsive and began to preform life saving measures.

The subject was then loaded in the ambulance and transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge where he was then pronounced dead.

The male subject will the be transported to Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause of death. It appears authorities are concerned narcotics played a role.

The identity is not being released at this time.
