Lawrence County Man Claims $150,000 Powerball Prize Won in Portia

A Lawrence County man claimed a $150,000 Powerball prize after his wife checked a ticket left in his car. The winning ticket was sold in Portia.

PORTIA, Ark. — A Lawrence County man claimed a $150,000 Powerball prize Oct. 20 after his wife checked a ticket he had left in his car from the Oct. 17 drawing, according to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

The winner, identified by lottery officials as Michael W., purchased the ticket at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 50 on Highway 63 in Portia. He claimed the prize at the lottery’s claim center.

Michael and his wife were relaxing at home when she told him she had seen that an unclaimed winning Powerball ticket had been sold in Portia. He remembered having a ticket in his car, and she retrieved it and checked the numbers.

She told him he had won $150,000. Even after checking the numbers, the couple wanted another set of eyes to confirm the win and shared the news with their son, according to the lottery.

“You never think you’re going to be the one who wins,” Michael told lottery officials.

The couple plan to buy their son a car and save some of the money.

Michael matched four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000. Because he had purchased the Power Play option, the drawing’s multiplier of three increased the prize to $150,000.

The winning numbers were 12, 13, 24, 32 and 35, with Powerball 11.

Lottery officials said Michael regularly plays Powerball when the jackpot reaches at least $250 million, uses Quick Pick tickets and always adds Power Play. Quick Pick tickets have the same odds of winning as tickets with numbers selected by players, according to the lottery.

NEA Report reported Monday that the winning Portia ticket remained unclaimed. The lottery announced Michael’s claim in an Oct. 21 release.

Wednesday’s Jackpots

The lottery listed the Powerball jackpot at $635 million for the Wednesday, Oct. 21, drawing, the game’s second-highest jackpot of 2026. The drawing is scheduled for 9:59 p.m., with ticket sales closing at 8:59 p.m.

Powerball drawings take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets cost $2 per play, with the optional Power Play costing an additional $1. Winning the jackpot requires matching all five white-ball numbers and the Powerball.

The Arkansas LOTTO jackpot was listed at $2.862 million for Wednesday’s 9 p.m. drawing. Tickets cost $2 per play, and sales close at 8:59 p.m.
