GREENE COUNTY, Ark. – A sheriff’s deputy wrecked into a ditch early Tuesday morning in Greene County due to icy road conditions, prompting law enforcement to urge caution for those who must drive today.
At about 1 AM on January 16, a Greene County Sheriff’s Department night-shift deputy hit a patch of black ice at the intersection of county roads 808 and 835, a release posted to social media by the sheriff said. The slick conditions resulted in the deputy’s truck sliding into the ditch.
Fortunately, the deputy, whose name has not been released, will be okay, the sheriff said.
The truck sustained minor damage to the front end.
“Folks, as a department we drive thousands upon thousands of miles every year, and in every weather condition there is,” Sheriff Brad Snyder wrote. “If it can happen to us, it can happen to you. Please be safe this morning if you must be out for work or other purposes. As I mentioned in my video yesterday afternoon, black ice will be a concern this morning, as this photo clearly confirms.”
