JONESBORO, Ark. – A stolen vehicle was recovered over the weekend in Jonesboro, thanks to a report from attentive bystanders, but the suspects are still wanted in the case.
Police were initially dispatched Friday evening, October 27, to the 2000-block of Hampton Drive. A woman stopped at a residence and took her children inside to see their uncle. She only planned on staying briefly and left her doors unlocked. Sometime during the 9 PM hour, a suspect stole her blue 2011 Mustang convertible. Officers entered the vehicle as stolen in the NCIC registry.
Around 11:55 AM the next morning, police were dispatched to the intersection of Burke and Chestnut after a couple who had seen a Facebook post about the missing vehicle reported finding it sitting off the side of the road in the grass. The vehicle appeared to have been wiped down by baby wipes that were in the vehicle. The wipes were collected as evidence. A cigarillo wrapper was also found. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
Authorities currently do not have any suspects in the case. If you have any information that might change that, you’re urged to contact JPD.
