15-Year-Old Arrested for Battery, Found with Sawed-Off Shotgun and Other Contraband

JONESBORO, Ark. – A 15-year-old was arrested after an alleged battery incident and was found in possession of a sawed-off shotgun, a handgun, and other concerning items, according to a police report.

The location of the incident is masked in the report, but it occurred after 3 p.m. on August 22. The report states that a black male, 15, was hitting another black male, 16, with a belt, resulting in marks and bruises.

Once the altercation was stopped the suspect was found to have several items of contraband. A .40 caliber handgun and a Winchester shotgun with the barrel cut short were both found in the suspect’s possession, along with a small bag of marijuana.

The suspect faces several charges, including misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and domestic battering, as well as felonies for criminal use of a prohibited weapon and handgun possession by a minor or possession on school property.

The case has been referred to juvenile authorities.
