Blytheville Drug Bust Results in Arrest, More Expected

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. – A drug bust on August 18, led to the arrest of a resident in Blytheville and the discovery of illegal drugs and a loaded handgun within reach of a small child, according to a release from the Blytheville Police Department (BPD).

Special Agents of the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force, along with officers of the Blytheville Police Department, the Osceola Police Department, and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at 810 Lauderdale. Officers entered the residence and encountered Makayla Massey, 21, and a small child on a mattress in the living room.

The search revealed approximately one-quarter pound of methamphetamine, Oxycodone pills, digital scales, and other items commonly associated with the sale and use of illegal drugs. A loaded handgun was also found lying on the couch, accessible to the child.

Massey was arrested as a result of the search, and investigators expect further arrests to be made as a result of this investigation.
