MARMADUKE, Ark. —A father, who also served as the caregiver to his disabled adult son, stands accused of sexual misconduct against the individual he was entrusted to care for.
Cecil Hardin, a 58-year-old man from Marmaduke, was taken into custody on charges of rape and incest with the assistance of Greene County deputies and the Marmaduke Police Department.
Hardin has been charged with three counts of rape, a Class Y felony, and three counts of incest, a Class C felony. The arrest was made after Judge Randy Philhours reviewed a probable cause affidavit prepared by Captain Rhonda Thomas. Philhours found that the investigators had established probable cause.
On July 17, 2023, an adult male aged 23, who has been diagnosed with a moderate intellectual disability, was interviewed at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. He stated these incidents occurred after he turned 18 and happened in two different locations within Greene County, Arkansas.
Hardin was interviewed at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on July 19, 2023, where he provided a self-incriminating statement.
As of now, no bond has been set for Hardin. He is scheduled to appear before a judge this week for a first appearance hearing where a bond will be considered.
