Investigators bust up hotel drug dealing operation; Fraud through Door Dash; Other reports released Thursday by JPD

JONESBORO, Ark. – The following are summaries of the most significant incidents described in police reports released Thursday by the Jonesboro Police Department.

A vehicle was broken into between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at the 700-block of Melrose Street. A wallet was stolen.

A driver on Matthews reported their windshield struck by a golf ball and cracked Tuesday in Jonesboro.

More reports of unemployment fraud affecting residents of Jonesboro were filed with JPD.

A woman reported $418.71 in fraudulent charges on her account through the Door Dash service in Jonesboro. The charges were between 5/26 and 6/11.

Investigators secured a search warrant at the 1200-block of West Oak due to the odor of marijuana on Wednesday. Investigators located loose marijuana weighing 1.5 grams, 16 suspected Ecstasy pills, and 27 Xanax bars, a digital scale with marijuana residue and a glass marijuana pipe. One person was arrested.

An accident with injury was investigated Wednesday afternoon at the 1400-block of East Highland Drive. A driver of a blue Tahoe flipped the vehicle. He was found to have no valid license and numerous quantities of drugs. Joshua Campbell, 30, of Jonesboro, was arrested. White powdered substance believed to be meth was located in addition to marijuana and pills.

A 14-year-old was arrested for aggravated assault on a family/household member after an incident reported Wednesday afternoon at a masked location in Jonesboro. The suspect is alleged to have threatened family members with a knife.

Several reports have been filed recently, including at least one new one on Thursday, indicating porch pirates are stealing packages off of front porches of their owners.

A suspect involved in a private property accident while being intoxicated was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the 2200-block of Red Wolf Boulevard.

A tip about a suspect selling drugs from a hotel sent the Street Crimes Unit to 2909 Kazi on Wednesday. Officers went to room 329 and knocked on the door. Chauncy Levon Mayes, 41, of Jonesboro answered the door holding a bag of suspected meth and paraphernalia. He was arrested as was Kimberly Martin, 35, of Jonesboro.

An aggravated assault report was filed on Wednesday at the intersection of Flint and Oak. Around 4 PM, a witness noticed the suspect yelling at a child. While the witness watched, he said the suspect pulled a gun out and pointed it at him before leaving. No one was arrested in the report.

A bag of meth was found in the parking lot of Craighead Nursing Center and turned over to police Wednesday evening.

A 17-year-old male was arrested after a call around 7:25 PM Wednesday indicating a man with a gun at the 2400-block of Westacre. The teen was arrested for aggravated assault on allegations he pointed a gun at the victims. The case is being investigated.

A male suspect was accused of flashing his butt to a juvenile around 8 PM Wednesday in the checkout aisle of Walmart on Highland Drive.

A bullet was found in a home Wednesday night at the 1500-block of Estates Boulevard.

A gun was reported stolen from a residence at the 1300-block of Pratt Circle Wednesday night.

A residential burglary reported early Thursday in Jonesboro described suspects forcing their way into a home and threatening victims. It happened between 2:30 AM and 2:50 AM at the 700-block of Meadowbrook, at an apartment. The report said suspects forced their way through the door, stole a phone and threatened victims. One of the suspects was listed as arrested in the report: Brandon L. Barbine, 24, of Jonesboro. A 28-year-old female suspect, not named, was also listed in the report.
