Local police save Christmas from a real-life Grinch

JONESBORO, Ark. – Local police agencies recovered thousands in stolen property that included several wrapped Christmas presents yesterday in Jonesboro.

The Arkansas State University Police Department and the Jonesboro Police Department criminal investigation divisions have been working together solve a string of burglaries, a release said. ASU police made a big find Wednesday netting several thousands of dollars worth of items, including still-wrapped presents.

Police found the stolen items in his vehicle. They were linked to numerous area burglaries and vehicle break-ins.

Authorities haven’t released any suspect information as of this report. No suspects were in custody, Sally Smith said at 11:45 AM. However, several active leads were being pursued.

The items are being returned to the families quickly, police said.

But JPD is working on identifying those that have not been claimed. Police asked readers to follow the JPD Facebook page to help identify some of the unclaimed items.
