Local students recognized for math and science at A-State

 

JONESBORO — The College of Sciences and Mathematics at Arkansas State University recognized 23 outstanding graduating students for 2015-16 Thursday evening during its annual awards ceremony, according to Dr. John Pratte, dean of the college.

The Chancellor’s Scholar award was presented to Brandi Mize of Paragould.  The Chancellor’s Scholar is the graduating student with the highest overall grade point average in the respective academic college.  Jared Gowen of Garner, Christian Helms of Pocahontas, Erin Langley of Beebe, Madison Rowe of Paragould, and Jamie Wooldridge of Batesville received the 4.0 Scholar Award.

The departmental awards are presented during Convocation of Scholars to the graduate in each degree program who has most excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the department. Continue reading “Local students recognized for math and science at A-State”

Programs in Art, Music and Theatre Recognize Top Graduates

JONESBORO – Eight students in art, music and theatre at Arkansas State University were recognized during Convocation of Scholars as the most outstanding graduating students in their respective degree programs, according to Dr. Carl Cates, dean, College of Liberal Arts and Communication.

In the Department of Art and Design, the graduating senior awards were presented to Hillary Brooks of Horseshoe Bend, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in art (studio art emphasis); Riley Hancock of Russellville, BFA in graphic design; Jacklyn Risi of Jonesboro, BFA in graphic design (digital design emphasis); and Haley Voges of Worthing, S.D., BA in art (art history emphasis). Top Graduates in Agriculture and Technology Recognized

JONESBORO – The most outstanding graduating seniors in agriculture and technology at Arkansas State University were recognized during the annual Convocation of Scholars honors banquet, according to Dr. Timothy Burcham, dean.
The Chancellor’s Scholar award was presented to Sarahjane Beaucamp of Marianna, an animal science major. The Chancellor’s Scholar is the graduating senior who has the highest overall grade point average. Continue reading “Top Graduates in Agriculture and Technology Recognized”

Engineering Presents Awards during Convocation of Scholars

 

JONESBORO – Four students in the engineering program at Arkansas State University were recognized during a Convocation of Scholars honors ceremony as the most outstanding graduates, according to Dr. Paul Mixon, associate dean.

The Chancellor’s Scholar award recipient was Hunter Brock of Cabot, a mechanical engineering major.  The Chancellor’s Scholar is the graduating senior with the highest overall grade point average for the academic year.

A-State Announces 2017 Distinguished Service Award Winners

JONESBORO – Eight outstanding students will receive a 2017 Distinguished Service Award (DSA) at Arkansas State University at a recognition dinner, Thursday, April 27, at 6 p.m. at the Cooper Alumni Center, 2600 Alumni Boulevard, on the A-State campus.

The eight are Arnelle Jones of Osceola, Blaise Taylor of Jonesboro, Emilee Taylor of Jonesboro, Erin Langley of Beebe, Jared Gowen of Garner, Kelly Mendes of Jonesboro, Monica Norman of Hot Springs and Patrick Dietz of Searcy.

The DSA recognition comes during A-State’s Convocation of Scholars, an annual celebration of academic achievement that includes college and departmental awards and recognition events. One of the eight will be announced as the recipient of the university’s highest honor, the R.E. Wilson Award, at the dinner.

The Distinguished Service Award winners are recognized as the institution’s most-outstanding graduates because of their leadership, scholarship and citizenship. Faculty, staff, advisers to student organizations and other members of the campus community submit nominations for these prestigious awards.

All of the nominees have provided countless hours of service to the community, their classmates, their departments and colleges and to Arkansas State University.
