Domestic Battery Arrest Follows Greene County Call

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Greene County male was arrested after police said witnesses reported seeing him on top of a woman and hitting her during a domestic disturbance.

Harlan Wade Crouch Jr., 64, was arrested for third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Officer Cameron Hughes was dispatched June 20 to West Ruby in reference to a domestic violence call. While en route, Hughes was told the male involved had left the residence.

Hughes later located Crouch a short distance from the residence and made contact with him. Crouch told the officer the woman had hit him first, according to the affidavit. Hughes reported that Crouch had a small cut on the corner of his lip.

Crouch was taken into custody and transported back to the residence. There, Hughes spoke with the woman, who said Crouch came around randomly to mess with her and that the incident happened while she was sitting in her car, the affidavit said.

Hughes reported the woman was bleeding from her face and nose.

Witnesses told police they saw Crouch on top of the woman, hitting her, according to the affidavit.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash-only. A no-contact order was also entered, along with a provision prohibiting weapons, firearms or ammunition.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
