Bullet Fired into Jonesboro Home While Mother, Child Present

JONESBORO, Ark. – A frightening incident involving a bullet entering a home with a child present was reported Friday evening in Jonesboro, around the same time as a shooting previously reported here.

According to the incident report released by the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD), on June 7, 2024, officers responded at 7:01 PM to the 2600 block of Glenn Cove, where an unknown suspect fired a bullet into a residence.

The report states that a 20-year-old mother was sitting on the couch with her child when she heard a loud bang. She realized something had come through her front door. Upon closer inspection, she concluded the object was a bullet. The victim immediately called the police.

Responding officers noticed a bullet hole in the bottom left of the front door. They also observed that the bullet had traveled through the door and into a TV stand inside the home. The bullet was found lying on the floor behind the couch when officers arrived. Photos and evidence were collected.

Officers remained on the scene for some time. Detectives have placed the case in an inactive status as of Monday morning due to a lack of leads or evidence. However, tips could change that if someone comes forward with information.

Notably, the incident happened near the area where a shooting was reported earlier in the evening. At 6:53 PM., multiple calls of “shots heard” began to be reported on Preakness Drive and Oak Lawn Avenue, a residential area off Stadium Boulevard south of I-555. Two individuals were firing multiple rounds back and forth, with the incident report indicating some of the shots were fired from a moving vehicle. One resident said she heard 15 shots fired off.

Despite the proximity, the reports do not indicate that police suspect a connection between the incidents.
