JONESBORO, Ark. — A number of gunshots were fired Friday evening in a Jonesboro neighborhood. Police are still working to determine exactly what happened but have released more information.
Around 7 p.m. on June 7, multiple calls of “shots heard” were received by E911 Dispatch. Neighbors told NEA Report they heard the gunshots, with one nearby resident reporting hearing as many as 15 shots fired.
Officers located the scene in the 3500 block of Oaklawn, JPD Public Information Specialist Sally Smith said. No injuries were reported.
Smith said it is believed multiple shots were fired between two individuals. One firearm was recovered, and one potential suspect/victim was on the scene when police arrived.
JPD says the primary suspect left the scene in a vehicle with his wife. They were later located by Arkansas State Police near West Memphis along with a firearm. They were transported back to Jonesboro.
On Sunday, Smith confirmed Xzavier Markese Smith, 34, of Jonesboro, was arrested on a charge of terroristic act. His probable cause hearing is planned for Monday, where a bond will be determined.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
