JONESBORO, Ark. – A shooting incident that sent one person to a hospital appears to have been a robbery, according to the report released Monday by the Jonesboro Police Department.
Shortly after 11:30 pm on Friday, June 21, JPD officers responded to the 300 block of Garden Manor in reference to a shooting incident.
When officers arrived, they were directed to an upstairs apartment and discovered 43-year-old Bobby Jones suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach.
Officers began rendering aid and then turned the victim over to medical personnel when they arrived on the scene. EMS transported Jones to an area hospital. Police said his last known condition was stable.
The report describes the suspect as a black male between the age of 20 and 30, with a slender build and natural hair.
As of Monday morning, there had still been no arrests made in the case. Detectives were actively interviewing witnesses, a source told NEA Report. Over a dozen officers had made notes in the investigate portion of the police report.
The police report lists potential charges for the suspect as first degree battery as well as felony aggravated robbery. The report notes the victim’s wallet as stolen during the encounter.
