Registered Sex Offender Accused of Failing to Report Jonesboro Address Change

JONESBORO, Ark. — A registered sex offender is accused of failing to report a change of address after his release from the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Devonteze Keuntle Harrison was arrested on suspicion of failure to register or comply with reporting requirements, a Class C felony.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Harrison was convicted of second-degree sexual assault on Aug. 14, 2018, requiring him to register as a sex offender in Arkansas. He was assessed as a Level 2, or moderate-risk, offender in January 2019.

Harrison was released from state custody May 22 and provided a State Street address in Jonesboro on a sex offender change-of-information form, the affidavit states.

Investigators said Harrison obtained an Arkansas driver’s license May 26 using an address on East Roseclair Avenue.

Registered sex offenders are required to report to the appropriate local agency within five days of changing residences and must verify their registration every six months, according to the affidavit.

Police said Harrison became delinquent May 29 and had not attempted to contact the registering agency.

A warrant was issued June 9. Harrison was arrested the following day as he was leaving the East Roseclair Avenue residence, according to police.

His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety. His next court date is July 30.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
