JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested on felony charges after police said she attacked a victim while the victim was holding a child during a domestic disturbance.
Epiffany Triplett, 29, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree domestic battering, a Class C felony, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class D felony.
According to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched at about 2:29 a.m. on March 31 to the 200 block of Easy Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, Triplett told police to take her to jail because she was out of control and had done it, according to the affidavit. The responding officer noted that Triplett was intoxicated and highly emotional.
The alleged victim told police that Triplett had been drinking heavily throughout the night and had been slapping and pushing him. When the alleged victim went into a children’s room to check on them, police said Triplett entered the room with a knife and threatened to stab him.
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim was holding a child at the time and had to set the child down to defend himself. Police said Triplett then began attacking the victim while he was holding the child.
During the struggle, the victim attempted to take the knife from Triplett, according to the affidavit. Police said the victim suffered a small laceration to his hand while doing so.
After the physical altercation, police said Triplett began stabbing the walls and doors as she moved from the bedroom to the kitchen, where she eventually placed the knife in the sink.
Triplett’s next court date is scheduled for May 18. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
During the hearing, the judge noted in court that Triplett had no history and may be a candidate for domestic relations court.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
