VIDEO: K9 Takedown with Taser After Man Flees Bicycle Stop on Red Wolf Boulevard

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested after fleeing from officers during a bicycle stop on Red Wolf Boulevard, according to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit and video obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Around 2:57 a.m. Feb. 26, 2026, an officer observed a male riding a bicycle across Red Wolf Boulevard near Nettleton Avenue without lights, the affidavit states.

The officer made contact with the subject, identified as Durrell Edward McFerrin Jr., 28, and advised him of the reason for the stop. McFerrin told the officer he was on probation.

According to the affidavit, during a probation search, the officer did not initially locate contraband but observed McFerrin attempting to remove his socks and roll them inside out. When instructed to step away from the officer and allow his socks to be checked, McFerrin allegedly refused and began moving away.

A second officer arrived to assist. Police say McFerrin pulled away from officers and fled on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed, and the dog apprehended McFerrin across the parking lot.

The affidavit states McFerrin continued resisting while officers attempted to remove his socks, at which point a clear baggie containing a white substance was located. Officers say McFerrin stomped the baggie and tore it open while being detained.

The substance was later tested and determined to be methamphetamine, according to police.

McFerrin was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence, both Class D felonies, as well as fleeing, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental operations, misdemeanors, and improper lamps on a bicycle.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety, according to the affidavit. His next court date is March 20.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
