Police: Jonesboro Male Threatened to Kill Girlfriend, Himself During Armed Disturbance

JONESBORO, Ark. — A 19-year-old Jonesboro male is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself while armed with a rifle during an incident on Drake Street.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were called to the residence on Oct. 12, 2025, for a reported disturbance. The victim told police her boyfriend, Jakarius Lamont Clay, 19, had a rifle and became irate after she expressed her desire to end their relationship.

Investigators said Clay grabbed the victim’s glasses and broke them, then took her phone and vehicle keys before throwing her phone into the driveway. Clay allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and began damaging the inside, then repeatedly drove over the phone until it shattered.

The victim locked herself inside the home while Clay tried to enter through the front door. When he couldn’t, police said, he went to a back bedroom window and opened it from the outside. He allegedly yelled that he was going to kill the victim before saying he would “take care of both of them.” The victim told police she believed Clay meant he intended to kill her and then himself.

Just before officers arrived, Clay reportedly hid the rifle in nearby bushes.

Clay was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening and tampering with evidence, both Class D felonies, as well as first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault, both misdemeanors.

Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $35,000 cash or surety and issued no-contact orders protecting the victim.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
