TRUMANN, Ark. — Authorities have put out a warning on social media about a woman who is seen on video telling children to go to a registered sex offender’s residence in Trumann.
Video shows Tracy Washburn, 49, approaching two children – a five-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy. According to the mother of the children, Washburn tried to get the children to go to the home of a registered sex offender.
“From what I heard on the video and from what my children told me, the woman (Tracy) was trying to get my children to go to the sex offenders house, telling my kids he was a “nice guy” and that “he wouldn’t hurt them” and that “their mom wanted him to come out” pretending to be me,” the mother of the children, Kaylee Slaughter, told NEA Report. “Luckily, I taught my kids stranger danger at an early age, and they told her no, because if not, I’m not sure what the outcome could have been.”
Slaughter said she had never met Washburn, so she contacted the Trumann Police Department on Sept. 30. Later that day, Washburn was arrested.
A statement posted by TPD to Facebook said the following:
A suspect was identified, located, and subsequently arrested by the Trumann Police Department on stalking charges. She was transported to the Poinsett County Detention Center for booking, where outstanding charges were also addressed.
On October 1, 2025, a Probable Cause hearing was held regarding the stalking charges. A No Contact Order was issued and served on the suspect at this time, and a court date was assigned.
The suspect is known to drive a maroon Kia Sedona. Police said they were releasing information about the suspect for public awareness, urging all parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Jail records show a list of charges Washburn faces, in addition to the stalking charge. As of this report, she is still in the Poinsett County Jail.
The sex offender referenced is Cody Dewayne Clairday. In 2013, he entered a guilty plea in Lawrence County to one count of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of second-degree sexual assault. He was required to register with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety as a sex offender, where he is listed as a level 2 with moderate risk to reoffend.
Then, in 2023, he entered a guilty plea in Poinsett County to failure to register as a sex offender or report an address change. He received 36 months of supervised probation.
He was arrested again in August 2024, a social media post by TPD said. Online records about this incident were not found.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
