JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man is accused of posing as another person’s representative to obtain prescription medication valued at more than $1,300.
Michael Vincent Coleman, 43, was arrested Monday, July 14, on suspicion of nonfinancial identity fraud, a Class C felony, and theft of property valued between $1,000 and $5,000, a Class D felony.
Jonesboro police received a report July 1 concerning stolen prescription medication, according to a probable cause affidavit. The complainant told police the victim receives the medication from a pharmacy each week.
When the victim attempted to pick up the prescription, pharmacy employees reportedly said it had already been collected. Police said the person who obtained the medication allegedly claimed to be the victim’s representative.
The prescription costs $1,334.59 without insurance, according to the affidavit.
Investigators obtained surveillance video that allegedly showed the person who collected the prescription. Police identified him as Coleman. Footage also reportedly showed his vehicle and its license plate.
Judge Tommy Fowler set Coleman’s bond at $35,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
