PARAGOULD, Ark. — A male is accused of failing to comply with sex offender registration and reporting requirements, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department.
Jaron J. McDonald, 40, listed as homeless in Paragould, was found guilty in 2008 of fourth-degree sexual assault in Greene County. He was arrested last week after investigators determined he had not properly updated his address.
Detective Sgt. Jacob Higdon wrote that McDonald reported on July 7 that he was living at a residence on Plum Street, but did not know how long he would be there. State law requires sex offenders to notify authorities of any change of address five days in advance.
Officers later contacted the property owner, who said the home had been vacant for nearly two months. On Sept. 26, police located McDonald at another location where he had been staying and brought him in for questioning. Higdon stated that McDonald made incriminating statements during a Mirandized interview.
Judge Dan Stidham set bail at $25,000 cash or surety and ordered McDonald to wear an ankle monitor.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
