Judge Sets $100K Bond in Jonesboro Domestic Assault Case

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Memphis man was arrested after Jonesboro police said a woman reported being punched, forced to the ground and strangled during a domestic disturbance.

Kesean Renee Henry, 35, of Memphis, was arrested for aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police responded June 24 to a domestic disturbance at a residence on East Oak Street. When officers arrived, they found a female victim who had barricaded herself inside a room.

The woman told police Henry, her boyfriend, became jealous and angry after she returned home from an outing with a friend.

According to the affidavit, she reported that Henry punched her, forced her to the ground and strangled her. She told police the strangulation restricted her breathing to the point that she believed she was going to die.

The affidavit said the woman also reported that Henry repeatedly slammed her head against the ground while strangling her.

Officers photographed her injuries, which police said included a laceration on her cheek, a swollen and bleeding lower lip, finger-shaped red marks on the right side of her neck, and bruising on the left side of her neck consistent with strangulation.

Henry’s next court date is July 30. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling, who also ordered Henry to wear an ankle monitor. Boling noted in court that Henry had no ties to Craighead County and prior domestic charges out of state.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
