CASH, Ark. — A Trumann woman was arrested after police said a stolen EBT card was used at a Walmart in Osceola.
Lana Darlene Bell, 61, of Trumann, was arrested by the Cash Police Department for theft of property involving credit or debit cards, a Class D felony, and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card under $500, a misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit by Cash Police Chief Jason Fraser, the investigation began June 18 after a Cash resident reported that her EBT card had been stolen from her residence.
The resident contacted the Department of Human Services after discovering the card was missing. DHS records showed the card had been used at Walmart Store #74 in Osceola at about 7:20 p.m. May 30, according to the affidavit.
Fraser contacted Walmart Asset Protection, which provided transaction records, surveillance images and a receipt. Investigators said the footage showed a female suspect using the card to buy items. Police later identified the suspect as Bell, according to the affidavit.
Investigators said the evidence indicated Bell knowingly used the EBT card without permission or authorization.
Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety. Bell’s next court date is July 30.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
