Jonesboro Woman Accused of Stabbing Husband During Domestic Dispute

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman has been arrested after police say she stabbed her husband during a domestic disturbance that left a large amount of blood inside the couple’s home.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police were called Sept. 20 to the 1800 block of Rich Road after a woman reported her stepfather had been stabbed. Officers arrived to find blood on the floor and walls of the home and learned the victim had already gone to St. Bernard’s Medical Center with a large laceration to his hand.

The victim’s stepdaughter told police that Taquilla Deria Scales, 42, stabbed the man. Scales, who is married to the victim, initially denied the stabbing and claimed her husband cut his hand on glass. After further questioning, police said she admitted that the stabbing occurred “in the heat of the moment.”

Scales was arrested on a charge of second-degree domestic battery, a Class D felony. Judge David Boling set her bail at $25,000 cash or surety with a GPS ankle monitor required.

Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 30.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
